![]() The story of what happened is found in 2 Samuel 4. “Then the king said, ‘Is there not still someone of the house of Saul, to whom I may show the kindness of God?’ And Ziba said to the king, ‘There is still a son of Jonathan who is lame in his feet.’” (2 Samuel 9:3 New King James Version) It’s a beautiful story of what God has done for each of us.įirst, like Mephibosheth we have been crippled by the fall. He was Jonathan’s only surviving son, the grandson of his old enemy Saul.Īfter David found Mephibosheth he restored him to the Palace of the King. ![]() He searched for and found the only surviving member of Jonathan’s family, Mephibosheth. In 2 Samuel 9 we’re told that once David was firmly established as King, he remembered a promise he made to his best friend, Jonathan. It’s a story and a beautiful picture of God’s grace to sinners. Over the next four weeks I like to take a look at a somewhat obscure story of an unknown individual, Mephibosheth.
